Survey on electronic identification in sheep

SheepNet is a European wide network which seeks to improve sheep productivity by establishing durable exchange of scientific and practical knowledge among farmers, researchers and advisors/consultants across Europe, as well as identifying farmers’ needs.

Efficient use of modern technology can improve labour efficiency on farm and thus productivity. SheepNet is undertaking a survey in the 7 main sheep producing countries in Europe, and Turkey, on the use of electronic identification (EID). The objective of the survey is to assess the use of EID associated technologies by sheep producers, and to understand farmers’ views on the potential benefits and barriers of using these technologies.
